Despite our best efforts the Copenhagen climate summit did not yield a fair ambitious and binding agreement. After two years of climate change negotiations and a two-week climate summit in Copenhagen we have emerged with the Copenhagen Accord. This document is not legally binding in nature, will not be adopted by many countries and shows very weak levels of ambition. There is still much work to be done if we are to limit global to below 2 degrees and avert a climate crisis.
Thank you to everyone who Voted Earth. Your voice was heard and has reminded world leaders that we are watching them, counting on them to deliver a fair, ambitious and binding agreement. WWF will continue engaging in every step of further negotiations leading up to the next climate summit to take place in Mexico, scheduled for the end of next year.
